Website Redesign: Skills Nunavut

Skills Canada Nunavut - Website Redesign

Project Overview

Skills Nunavut supports the development of trades and technology skills across the territory, empowering youth and adults through competitions, programming, and partnerships. The organization needed a modern, mobile-friendly website that better reflected its mission, improved accessibility, and made it easier for users to find information about programs, competitions, and resources.

The existing website was outdated, difficult to navigate, and lacked consistency in branding and content structure. Our goal was to create a bold, culturally respectful, and easy-to-use platform that speaks to both Nunavummiut youth and their communities.

What We Delivered

The new Skills Nunavut website is built with clarity, functionality, and the North in mind:

  • Modern, Responsive Design: Optimized for use on mobile devices, tablets, and desktops to ensure accessibility across Nunavut’s diverse regions and internet conditions.

  • Clear Navigation & Structure: Information is now organized by audience (students, educators, employers, and partners) to streamline the user experience.

  • Custom Features

    • Resource Hub: Centralized location for downloadable materials, competition guides, and documents.

    • Contact Forms & Program Registration: Streamlined forms make it easy for users to get involved or ask questions.

    • Collapsible/Expandable Sections: Clean, space-saving layouts that let users click to reveal more information.

    • Interactive Map: A dynamic map highlighting competition locations and regional contacts, helping users across Nunavut quickly find what’s relevant in their area.

    • Audience-Based Navigation: Tailored pathways for students, educators, employers, and community partners to quickly find the content that matters to them.

  • Visual Identity: A fresh visual style with northern imagery, clean typography, and accessible color contrasts brings the brand to life while remaining welcoming and culturally grounded.

  • Multilingual Ready: Built with future support for Inuktitut and French in mind, so the site can evolve with community needs.

The redesigned site is already improving engagement, with early analytics showing a decrease in bounce rates and better navigation flow. Site administrators now enjoy a streamlined CMS that makes it easier to update content, post events, and share opportunities with youth across the territory.
